PRODUCT INFORMATION

BIBS X LIBERTY is an exclusive collection of best-selling baby and toddler essentials, revamped with timeless Liberty patterns for a beautiful statement.

The BIBS Color pacifier is BIBS's original pacifier, which has been on the market for over 40 years. The typical features of the BIBS Color pacifier are the round edge of the pacifier with three air holes and BIBS' own engraving.

The round and light edge of the pacifier is designed so that it does not come into contact with the sensitive skin around the baby's mouth. Consequently, the accumulation of moisture from saliva around the mouth is reduced.

Available natural rubber latex with a round, symmetrical and anatomical suction part.
Recommended by midwives, supports natural breastfeeding.
The border is 100% food safe.
Also available with a glow-in-the-dark feature.
Designed and manufactured in Denmark/EU.

Do not boil the pacifier in hot water, it will prematurely break or embrittle the pacifier. Sterilization according to the instructions we added is enough. Do not use a broken or brittle pacifier.

Size chart:
Size 1: 0-6 months
Size 2: 6-18 months
Size 3: 18 months+

Important:
Remember to change the pacifier every 4-6 weeks! Also, replace the pacifier with a new one immediately if you notice even the slightest wear or signs of damage.

The suction part is made of natural rubber latex. Color variation may occur due to latex being a natural material.

Instructions

Good pacifier hygiene includes regular cleaning of pacifiers. The younger the child is, the more important it is to protect him from bacteria and maintain good pacifier hygiene.

There are different methods for sterilizing pacifiers. Below we go through all of them:

Before first use: remember to sterilize the pacifiers when you take them out of the package! This is done by placing the teats in plenty of boiling water for 5 minutes. This applies to both latex and silicone teats. In rare cases, natural rubber latex can flow into the rim, so it is important to sterilize in plenty of water and we recommend sterilizing latex teats separately. This only applies before the first use.

Sterilization with hot water. This is the method we recommend for cleaning both latex and silicone pacifiers afterwards:Place the teats in a clean bowl. Pour boiling water over the teats and let the teats soak for approx. 5 minutes. Lift them up and let them dry with a clean towel. This method is gentle, but still removes bacteria without compromising the durability of the pacifier. We recommend boiling the teats only before the first use - no subsequent cleaning. Teats are not intended for repeated cooking and can be destroyed by continuous exposure to high heat. Follow the instructions above instead.

Sterilization in a microwave oven:Be aware that the latex will break down if the temperature exceeds 100°C. Therefore, we do not recommend sterilizing natural rubber latex in a microwave oven. Silicone can withstand higher temperatures than latex, so you can use microwave sterilization for silicone teats. However, make sure that the temperature does not exceed 110°C. The edge of the pacifier is made of PP, which breaks if the temperature exceeds 110°C. In addition, repeatedly exposing pacifiers to temperatures above 100°C can be tough on them, reducing their durability and lifespan over time.

Our general recommendations are that for microwave sterilization you should check the manufacturer's instructions to ensure that the temperature is maintained at around 100°C. In most microwave ovens, this means that the pacifiers must be heated for a maximum of 60 seconds at a maximum of 800W.

Always remember to put the teats in water in a sterilization box made for the purpose. Never put pacifiers in the microwave without it!

Sterilization with electric steam sterilization devices:Please note that the latex breaks down if the temperature exceeds 100 °C. Therefore, we do not recommend using steam sterilization equipment for natural rubber latex nipples. Silicone can withstand higher temperatures than latex, so you can use electric steam sterilizers for silicone teats. However, make sure that the temperature does not exceed 110 °C. The pacifier cover is made of PP, which breaks if the temperature exceeds 110°C. As with microwave sterilization, repeated exposure of the pacifiers to temperatures above 100 °C can be difficult for the pacifiers. Our general recommendations are that when using steam sterilizers, check the manufacturer's instructions to ensure that the temperature is maintained at around 100°C.

Sterilization with UV sterilization equipment:We do not recommend using UV sterilization equipment for pacifiers made of natural rubber latex or silicone. Natural rubber latex is a natural material that undergoes a natural aging process that can be affected by external factors such as UV light. So never use a UV sterilizer on our latex tutus, as it damages the material. Also, never leave natural rubber latex in direct sunlight. In addition, UV light only kills bacteria if it shines directly on the surface of the product that contains bacteria, unlike steam, which is a gas and can easily spread over the entire surface of the pacifier, regardless of shape. Therefore, we do not recommend using a UV sterilizer for any of our BIBS pacifiers.

Sterilization using sterilizing solutions:We do not recommend using a sterilizing solution on pacifiers made of natural rubber latex or silicone, as the solution can damage the material if the pacifier is left for longer than recommended.

Sterilization in the dishwasher:We do not recommend cleaning latex or silicone teats in the dishwasher. Cleaning agents can damage the material (both latex and silicone) and cause it to become brittle. In addition, most dishwashers do not reach high enough temperatures to adequately sterilize teats.

If water remains inside the suction part:After cleaning, it is not unusual for water to remain in the suction part. This is because all teat suction parts have a valve that lets air out. This ventilation system causes the air from inside the suction part to be pushed out through the valve, causing the suction part to flatten and shape naturally according to the baby's oral cavity. The valve is also the reason that there may be water inside the suction part after cleaning and sterilization. If this happens, you can simply squeeze the suction part flat to push the excess water out. If water drops remain on the suction part, just let the pacifier air dry.

How often should teats be cleaned?Part of good pacifier hygiene is regular cleaning of pacifiers. The younger the child is, the more important it is to protect him from bacteria and maintain good pacifier hygiene. This is mainly because the immune system of young children has not yet had time to become familiar with all the different bacteria and therefore has not yet learned to "defend" against them. You should sterilize your baby's pacifiers regularly, but don't overdo it, because sterilization wears out the pacifier in the long run. Our general recommendation is to heat the teats once a day.
