Medela Hands-free Breast Shields are additional milk collectors for your Medela Hands-Free Breast Pumps. Milk collectors are key to pumping comfort and efficiency, and the 105° opening angle of Medela breast shields is designed for just that! The angle is optimal to reduce pressure on the breasts and optimize comfort, and the wider bottom supports the important milk-producing tissues in the breast.
Medela breast shields are safe for both mother and baby: they are made of food-grade plastic and do not contain BPA, natural rubber latex or phthalates.
Compatible with all Medela breast pumps with Hanks-Free collection cups.
Please note: Hands-Free breast pumps are not compatible with parts from Medela's PersonalFit Flex™ pump sets!
Here's how to find the right size for you:
Pumping shouldn't hurt. To make it as comfortable and effective as possible, Medela offers a range of breast shield sizes. This guide will help you determine the best size for you based on your nipple diameter.
Step 1: Using a ruler or measuring tape, measure the diameter of the nipple at the base (center) in millimeters. Do not include the areola.
Step 2: Determine your Medela breast shield size based on your measurements. Example: If your nipple size is 16 mm in diameter, the recommended Medela breast shield size is 21 mm.
Nipple diameter (Ø mm) maximum 17 mm = Breast pad size 21 mm
Nipple diameter (Ø mm) maximum 20 mm = Breast pad size 24 mm
Nipple diameter (Ø mm) maximum 23 mm = Breast pad size 27 mm
Remember to inspect the pump parts regularly, if you notice any damage or extensive wear, replace the part immediately. Medela recommends replacing the valves every 3-6 months, depending on how often you pump.
IMPORTANT: Make sure you only purchase and use pump parts or accessories that are specifically designed for your breast pump. Using non-Medela parts may damage the product. Therefore, only use accessories that came with your specific breast pump model or that Medela has certified to work with it.
